Inspired By

WGSN

focusing on the connection between modern city life and contemporary fashion. I was inspired by the New York skyline, architectural lines, and the woman’s simple yet elegant outfit. I especially focused on the open-back design, clean silhouettes, dark color palette, and luxurious feel of the materials. I want to bring these elements into my fashion design to create a look that feels modern, elegant, sophisticated, and confident.

Concept Decelopment

Chosen direction

I draw inspiration from Empress Dowager Viviennewestwood’s wedding dress and vintage gowns.

Add another fabric of a second color and try out the placement methods and the effects when combined with different colors.

Colorways testing

Draping experimentation

  • Finish the decoration on the chest and fix the pleats.

  • The waist creases create a sense of depth and are connected to the skirt hem at the back.

  • Strengthen the back hem and trailing edge.

Process of making the dress

This was my first experience designing, pattern cutting, and sewing a garment from start to finish. Through this project, I learned to turn an idea into a finished piece and gained confidence in both design and craftsmanship.
